Recently I was talking to my friend about how many Chinese families host a big celebration on the 100th day after a baby’s birth. My friend told me that in some indigenous communities in Mesoamerica, they don’t name the baby until their 100th day. I later looked up other cultural practices and learned many communities across the world hold significant celebrations a little while after a baby’s birth: 1 month, 3 months, 100 days, etc.
